Results:   EDGE Youth Leadership has grown every year for the last four years to serve an average of 150 students a year. Through a survey conducted at the start and end of the seminar, students demonstrate a 20% average increase in confidence in public speaking, ability to make a difference through volunteering, interest in service, and confidence in their own leadership skills. Participants have also demonstrated that EDGE has a lasting impact on their desire to volunteer. In a long-term survey, students indicated that EDGE was the second highest influence of their motivation to volunteer.

Target demographics:   All high school sophomores, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status. Because we are a free seminar, in a time of budget cuts, schools can turn to use for excellent leadership development without worrying about cost.

Battered Women’s Shelter PJ & Underwear Drive

Battered Woman’s Drive

Next Door Bag Project – November we will be filling bags for women and children to be given at their holiday boutique at Next Door for Domestic violence shelter. This is our 30th year. We already spent summer time decorating the gift bags in preparation and purchasing items such as crayons for the children’s bags. We will begin asking for your generous donations to help with the purchase of toothpaste/brushes and deodorant. We ask that you make contact with your dentists to ask for items as brushes, paste, floss and mouthwash. We do hope your summer travels kept us in mind for the toiletries, shower caps and other items. Cosmetics for the ladies bags will be very appreciated with combs a necessary item for both ladies and children. Your gifts of stuffed animals, large and small, for the children to this outstanding project are much appreciated for families in need at Christmas.

We also do an underwear drive in January.  Our shelters would not be able to provide essential items to new victims without your assistance. We collect underwear and sweats which are currently needed in the shelters for both children and adults.

Many victims of domestic violence been forced to leave their homes because of abuse, and arrive at safe havens with just a suitcase. Those who go on to transitional housing program or homes in the community may lack the financial resources to purchase what they need for their new homes. You can provide clothing they will need to rebuild their lives free from violence- and let them know how much you care.
